Democracy in Bronze: Celebrating W.E.B. Du Bois

At this prelude event, Dr. Alexandria Russell will speak about her research that reveals W.E.B. Du Bois' contributions as a memorializer--featured in Black Women Legacies -- and join in celebration with the Berkshire community who are memorializing him in a new bronze statue in Great Barrington, MA. This program honors Du Bois' legacy and his contributions to democracy, civil rights, and social justice. Special guests will dedicate a ceremonial USPS stamp of Du Bois. Attendees will engage in discussions and activities that reflect on Du Bois' impact and the ongoing journey towards equality and democratic ideals in America.

Guests are able to attend this program and view the Smithsonian's "Voices & Votes: Democracy in America" free of charge.
