The Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry presents the first in a 3-part series examining the history and tradition of revolutionary action in Boston. Dr. Alexandria Russell and other speaker presentations will be followed by a moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A.

About the event
Dr. Alexandria Russell's presentation, "Finding Phillis: Phillis Wheatley's Memorials in Boston & Beyond," will explore how she became the most memorialized African American woman of the Jim Crow era and her present day commemoration in Boston. As our nation celebrates "America 250," Wheatley is one of the most visible and well-known African American women of the revolutionary era. Dr. Russell's research provides insight into who she was as a person and why she continues to be embedded in American memory and public memorials.
